Cooking
After Lisa Hilli’s artist talk at TCB, come down to the 2008 Next Wave Festival Club for the Remote Closing Party, where Lisa and her mother will be preparing and cooking I gir. About the artist/s:
The formation of identity within social and geographical environments is a consistent theme throughout Lisa Hilli’s arts practice. Through the use of video, Lisa aims to communicate the differences and similarities of her bi-cultural identity, so as to bring about understanding in her audience whilst also maintaining the cultural histories that she has inherited. By celebrating and delivering New Guinean traditions in a format that is Western in structure, Lisa goes beyond the boundaries of what is seen as traditional cultural art.
