Getting to Melbourne from interstate

A message from Tourism Victoria, our Festival supporter:

Welcome to Melbourne, home of the 2008 Next Wave Festival.

Melbourne is a cosmopolitan and vibrant city that thrives on sport, cultural experiences and festivals – playing host to events all year round, with themes ranging from arts and film to fashion, comedy, food and wine.

Melbourne is renowned for its flair with food, atmospheric eating places and hip hidden bars, including intimate basement restaurants, contemporary cafes overlooking the Yarra River and cool laneway bars. Fashionistas are also well provided for, with Melbourne’s shopping precincts catering for all tastes and budgets, from high end designer wear to alternative fashion and bargain buys.

Excellent accommodation and many event venues are within easy walking distance of the city and Melbourne’s comprehensive public transport system makes it easy to get around.

While you’re here, visit Victoria Beyond Melbourne, Victoria offers some of Australia’s most beautiful and diverse landscapes and all within easy reach.
